Receiver Misses Meeting, Game

DeSean Jackson of the Philadelphia Eagles is a lightning fast wide receiver/punt returner that is in the last year of his rookie contract: and he is doing absolutely nothing to help his case to receive a generous paycheck.  Over his first three seasons he ripped defenses to shreds, compiling more than 3,000 receiving yards, 17 touchdown receptions, and 4 punts returned for touchdowns.  This year, he has been a bit of a disappointment, as through Week 10 of the season he has only 2 touchdowns and just barely more than 500 yards receiving.

To make matters worse, he missed a special teams meeting this past weekend, causing head coach Andy Reid to render Jackson inactive for their game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.  It’s pretty simple if you ask me.  Show up when you’re supposed to show up, keep your mouth shut, and catch the football.  This seems like a pretty simple way to make hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of a career, but some idiots just can’t figure it out.

Jackson should have a chance over the last few weeks to make an impact, with standout receiver Jeremy Maclin coming up injured in their last game, but it might be too little too late for the so called “Dream Team” Eagles to make the playoffs.  They only now stand at 3-6: good enough for a tie for last in the NFC East.  Needless to say, it’s put up or shut up time for DeSean Jackson.
